Colliers Project Leaders contracted Rochon Building Corporation to construct two new federal distribution centres in the heart of downtown Toronto and Vaughan. The Toronto location a single storey industrial building was constructed on caissons and a structural reinforced slab due to insufficient soil bearing capacity. Due to this, a full under-slab vapor mitigation system was implemented. Moreover, conventional structural steel, insulated metal panels with signature
composite panels and fiber reinforced panels were also installed. Additionally, this project included the construction of illuminated exterior wall art panels, a roof that is 25% green and sustainable, office spaces, a lunchroom, lockers and shower facilities for the staff. Rochon closed out the project with a full staff and operations training session on BAS systems, mechanical and electrical components of the facility.
As for the Vaughan location, the ground-up construction of green space was also asked of us, all while being cautious of implementing cost saving efforts for the buildings’ foundations. The building was constructed using conventional structural steel and insulated metal panels with signature composite panels and fiber reinforced cement panels.
The property is fully gated, as we installed motorized gates. The interior of the facility includes one elevator, office space, a lunchroom, a locker, change room, and shower space. The closeout of the project encompassed full staff and operations training sessions on the BAS system, as well as mechanical and electrical components.
